I have just setup a duo boot PC. I am trying to install ExpertSDR3 on the Ubuntu side. What installer should I be using? I see the files are .sh and I can run them, but have not been able to install the package.

Thanks for any help, 73

Thanks, all I had to do was ask and I see how now!

For Linux- Newcomers, some tips for installing via the desktop
An example with my steps in Linux Mint 21.3, normally similar to Ubuntu with "ExpertSDR3 1.0.7 beta Linux x64".

First of all be sure, you have read Topic "Solution for Linux if ExpertSDR3 doesn't start". In doubt make these steps first,
otherwise it may not start. The cause is currently a missing system file in Linux Untunu/Mint.

A description of the installation process is described here:
eesdr.com/images/Document/ESDR3/ExpertSDR3_User_Manual_ENG_DX.pdf
Manual site 96

"In Linux ExpertSDR3 is auto-installed in the system folder /opt/ExpertSDR3.
Shortcuts for ExpertSDR3 and RadioSync are provisioned during the installation and placed within the list of installed applications.

It is recommended to use install.sh, so the installation process can automatically create the permission
rules for USB-devices, making ColibriNANO receiver and E-Coder2/E-Coder control panels to work
without manual OS permission changes.

To delete ExpertSDR3, start uninstall.sh; it will also delete the rules created earlier."

In addition an Release Notes since ExpertSDR3 1.0.2 beta Release ...
drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hEVTo-DLXL7mV0sgwQsAW8NFmLfs7Qup

"After the installation, you’ll find shortcuts for ExpertSDR3 and RadioSync in the list of
installed software"

Step by step:

1) After download ExpertSDR software from Expert Electronics Page, go to the Download-folder in your Linux-OS.
You see "ExpertSDR3 1.0.7 beta Linux x64.tar.xz"

2) Next double-click on this file and it open "archive management".
Highlight the folder .tar.xz and extract.

3) Then make a right-mouse-click in Download-Folder on the new extracted "ExpertSDR3 1.0.7 beta Linux x64" folder.
Open it as Administrator.

4) Double-click on install.sh
Choose "open with terminal"

5) As next following text you will see in the Terminal-Window:

Deleting the previous ExpertSDR3
Copy ExpertSDR3 to /opt/ExpertSDR3
Create desktop file in /usr/share/application
Create rules for E-Coder and E-Coder2
Use ColibriNANO [y/n]:
y
Do you want to add rules for tty0tty [y/n]:
y

6) Why in doubt "yes":
As described above, this give the ExpertSDR-Software higher rights to USB ports for ColibriNano and for tty0tty-Program.
The last can simulate a Serial Port in Debian/Ubuntu/Mint and is a external Program additional to install.

The terminal window should then close on its own.

7) Check in your Linux-System in "installed Software" for ExpertSDR3.
Now you will see the program with Icon.
Double click will launch the Program.

With right mouse-click you can activated this for the desktop.
This also applies to the Radio sync program and is very comfortable to start the program.

An example of the icons on the desktop can be found in the appendix of this thread.
